The Indianapolis Colts have signed kicker Spencer Shrader to their practice squad and released running back Trent Pennix from the same squad.
Shrader, who stands 6-2 and weighs 201 pounds, has been with the Colts’ practice squad multiple times this season. He was elevated to the active roster in Week 1 against Houston, where he successfully converted three extra points. Shrader participated in the Colts’ 2024 offseason program and training camp after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2024. During his college career at Notre Dame (2023) and USF (2019-22), he played in 57 games and made 43 of 63 field goals and 156 of 158 extra points, totaling 285 points. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2024, he played in 54 games (with 15 starts) at North Carolina State (2018-23), primarily at tight end and running back. Pennix recorded 55 receptions for 712 yards (averaging 12.9 yards per catch) and 11 touchdowns, along with 41 carries for 240 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and one touchdown.
