The Dallas Cowboys, currently at 3-7, are facing the prospect of their first six-game losing streak since their disappointing 4-12 season in 2015. Their hope for recovery lies in a matchup against the Washington Commanders, where they’ll face former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and several ex-teammates, including Tyler Biadasz, Dorance Armstrong, and Dante Fowler Jr., who joined Washington this offseason.
However, the Cowboys will have to navigate this challenge without three key players, all of whom have been ruled out for the Week 12 game.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, cornerback Trevon Diggs and guard Zack Martin will not travel with the team to Washington and have been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game. Additionally, wide receiver Brandin Cooks, despite being cleared to return from injured reserve, will not play either.
Diggs has been a vital part of Dallas’ defense, starting every game this season with 37 total tackles, eight passes defended, and two interceptions. Martin, an 11-year veteran and seven-time All-Pro, has been a cornerstone of the offensive line and has yet to miss a start this season. Meanwhile, Cooks, who hasn’t played since Week 4, has contributed nine receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown this year.
These injuries present a significant obstacle for the Cowboys, especially with starting quarterback Dak Prescott also sidelined due to a hamstring injury. The absences complicate an already challenging task as the Cowboys prepare to face the Commanders, who have been revitalized under Quinn’s leadership.
