Instead, the team signed Jameis Winston, a move that sparked mixed reactions. While Winston’s talent has always been apparent, his reputation for inconsistency raised concerns. However, one thing most could agree on was his likeability and charismatic personality.

Even so, Anthony Lima expressed skepticism about Winston earlier in the season. Lima suggested that Winston’s constant media presence—being mic’d up, giving interviews, and staying in the spotlight—might eventually wear thin with his teammates.

Now, after seeing Winston’s impact on and off the field, Lima has changed his perspective. Following conversations with players like Rodney McLeod and observing how the team has rallied around Winston, as well as his active involvement in the community, Lima admitted he was wrong.

On his recent show, Lima acknowledged that Winston’s leadership qualities have been a positive force for the Browns. While Lima remains uncertain if Winston is the long-term solution at quarterback, he praised Winston’s ability to lead, even in the challenging role of a second-string player. Now that Winston has stepped into the starting role, his leadership is even more evident.

As Lima noted, likeability matters. Winston may not be a flawless quarterback, but his ability to inspire and unite the team makes him a valuable presence for the Browns.
