With the 2025 Early Signing Period approaching, the Tennessee Volunteers are gearing up to finalize their recruiting class over the next few weeks. By early December, top prospects nationwide will be ready to officially commit.
Among Tennessee’s key targets is running back Daune Morris, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound talent from Oakland High in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Currently ranked as the No. 18 player in his state, Morris has been verbally committed to USC since April. However, with Tennessee aiming to add another running back to its 2025 roster, Morris could be an option. According to Ryan Callahan from 247Sports, Morris has maintained close contact with the Volunteers and plans to visit Knoxville for their matchup against Kentucky.
This news has generated excitement among Vols fans, as Tennessee already holds 23 commitments for the 2025 class. Running back Justin Baker from Georgia is on board, but the Vols are eager to secure another dynamic presence in their backfield. Morris, with over 30 offers to his name, has attracted interest from USC, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, and Vanderbilt, among others. Over the summer, he took official visits to Auburn and USC, with the Tigers still seen as strong contenders for his commitment.
USC’s coaching staff, led by Lincoln Riley, is working hard to keep Morris committed as they prepare for their move to the Big Ten. However, with fierce competition and Morris’s upcoming visit to Tennessee, the final decision may come down to whether he chooses to play in-state or take his talents to the West Coast. As Signing Day approaches, his choice could be a significant win for whichever program ultimately secures his commitment.
