The Dallas Cowboys have faced a wave of injuries in 2024, with safety Markquese Bell becoming the latest addition. Bell sustained a shoulder injury during Monday night’s game against the Houston Texans, and by Wednesday, it was confirmed that he had dislocated his shoulder. He is now ruled out for the rest of the season.

In 2023, under former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Bell was played out of position at linebacker. Despite recording an impressive 94 tackles over 649 snaps, his smaller frame proved problematic, as opposing teams exploited this by running at him effectively.

Back in his natural position at safety in 2024, Bell has seen limited action on defense, logging only 34 snaps behind starters Donovan Wilson and Malik Hooker, who have struggled this season. However, he has made a significant impact on special teams, with 168 snaps to his name.

As a restricted free agent in 2025, Bell could be a valuable asset for the Cowboys. With issues persisting in the safety lineup, re-signing him would align with the team’s cost-conscious approach while retaining a versatile player.
