The Indianapolis Colts still have an outside chance at claiming the AFC South title, although they trail the Houston Texans in the divisional race.
Coming into the 2024 NFL season, the Colts were seen as intriguing playoff contenders, largely due to the anticipated development of quarterback Anthony Richardson. However, the offense has failed to meet expectations so far.
Head coach Shane Steichen has experimented with different quarterbacks throughout the season, with Joe Flacco briefly replacing Richardson due to the rookie’s inconsistency. Despite this, Richardson will return as the starter in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions, who are currently playing like the league’s top team.
Ahead of the challenging matchup, the Colts announced several roster updates:
“We have activated DE Tyquan Lewis from the IR and waived DE Genard Avery. We have also elevated G Atonio Mafi to the active roster from the practice squad for #DETvsIND,” the team shared on X.
The return of Tyquan Lewis could provide a significant boost to the defensive line, as the Colts’ pass rush has struggled this season. Lewis had been sidelined since Week 4 with an elbow injury but is now ready to contribute. While his snap count may be limited as he eases back into action, his presence could help contain Detroit’s potent offense.
Slowing down the Lions will be a monumental challenge, but it will be worth watching to see if the Colts can keep the game competitive—or even pull off an upset.
